hip-opening workshop: sunday, 22 november 2009
i am happy to announce that there will be a hip-opening workshop, taught by amelie strecker, on sunday, 22 november from 12pm – 2:30pm.
this workshop costs 30 euros (25 euros for students of casaAbhyasa).
* Overcoming fear... working towards padmasana: in this workshop we will slowly and consciously work our way into our hips, exploring these dynamic and complex joints. Starting with the feet and knees and working with props and partners, we will begin to understand the actions and rotations that are required to open the hips in a healthy and gentle way.
All asana practice is a preparation for seated positions, like padmasana, so that the body no longer is a physical obstacle for meditation practice.
The hips often hold a lot of very deep seeded fears and emotions, so this will be a detoxifying and challenging class on many levels. Through the process of opening these joints and releasing these emotions and toxins, you will hopefully leave this workshop with more awareness, clarity, and a sensation of lightness.
*Amelie, born in 1976 in Berlin, was fortunate to grow up in a family with a highly developed spiritual sensibility. She has been teaching workshops, retreats and regular classes in Europe for 4 years to students of different ages and needs. In the last 10 years she has studied different Yoga styles, including: Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, and Viniyoga. She wholeheartedly bows down to the teachers who have crossed her path and shared their knowledge: Nicki Doane & Eddie Modestini, David Swenson, Dharma Mittra, Brian Kest, Jordi MartÃ, Upendra Ayra, Hojung Audenaerde, Olga Menal, etc.
it is necessary to pre-register for this workshop at: premagita@gmail.com or 600 810 741.
this workshop is for all levels… even if you can already do padmasana, one can still gain valuable insight into the way that the hips move in all of its rotations. normally many of us are more open in either the internal rotation or the external rotation of the hips. ideally we would like to have a balance between the two, which will help us in almost any asana. i hope that you will take the opportunity to attend this workshop! see you there!
