odanadi benefit class - yoga stops traffick: saturday, 13 march 2010

on saturday, the 13th of march, we will be holding a “sun-salutation” benefit class to help odanadi, an organization based in mysore, india that works with getting women and children out of the sex trade and to stop human trafficking. although the main event will be held in mysore, india, this is a world-wide event with many ashtanga shalas participating on the same day to raise money for this cause and to spread awareness of this issue.

if you would like to know more about this event and its cause, in the attachments you can find more information in english or spanish. you may also visit their web-site: www.yogastopstraffick.org o their facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=80637831311&ref=nf
you may also view this link to the youTube clip of the Odanadi children practicing Yoga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArLMaWUxjto

this event is open to everyone! so spread the word!
to those of you who are students of our shala or already know the ashtanga yoga sun salutations and would like to participate and donate to this cause, we will be open from 11am – 2pm on saturday, 13 march, during which time you may come at any time and do sun salutations in shifts, similar to the mysore-style class. hopefully, we will be able to do a collective 108 sun salutations or a multiple thereof, and even possibly 1008 (please refer to the attachments for the significance of both the sun salutations and this sacred number.)

for those of you who are not students of our shala or do not already know the ashtanga yoga sun salutations, we will do a few led sun salutation group shifts to a limited number as both an introduction to the practice and to us, as a center. pre-registration is required for these group shifts and the number limited to 8 in each shift. all donations from these classes will also go to the odanadi fund. please contact me by e-mail to specify which shift you would like to join at info@ashtangayogabarcelona.org:
11am – 11:30am
11:45am – 12:15pm
12:30pm – 1pm
1:15pm – 1:45pm

besides having an individual yoga practice, yoga is also about creating community and helping others. at 1:45pm, we will have a short question and answer session, in which people may ask about the practice or anything relating to it.

i hope that you will take the opportunity to participate in some way in this event!

this event is open to all… so, please spread the word to anyone who you think might be interested in taking part! thank you very much!
take care… much love and peace... namaste, hojung
