nutrition workshop: eating for well-being: sunday, 4 july 2010

i am happy to announce that there will be a nutrition workshop: “eating for well-being” next sunday, 4 july, taught by camila loew. the workshop will be from 12pm – 2pm and the cost is 20 euros.

it is necessary to reserve in advance as space is limited: camila.loew@gmail.com or 608 319 918.

*As opposed to our ancestors, who had no other choice but to eat a local, seasonal diet, nowadays, due to developments in technology and communications, we have an enormous variety of foods to choose from. This large offer forces us to make decisions all the time. Most often, we choose our foods based on taste or social situations, and we don’t think beyond the meal’s timeframe. However, in order to make responsible decisions, we need to gain awareness about the relationship between what we eat and the energetic, physical, mental, and emotional effects food produces in us.

*In this workshop we will approach the relationship between eating and well-being. We will begin to become aware of how food relates to our needs and conditions. When we eat with awareness and responsibility we feel better, because a correct selection of food helps us stay strong and develop our full potential, instead of weakening us with choices that block us in our path. By listening to our bodies in an individual, responsible way we can try small adjustments in our food habits, which will make us more balanced and stable energetically, while enjoying the great pleasure natural foods can offer us.
*This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in improving their quality of life through healthier eating habits. Yoga practitioners may also find it helpful as a way to keep tuning into the relationship between food, mind, and body, cultivating an awareness and consciousness to improve one's well-being both on and off the yoga mat.

*Camila Loew has a Ph.D. in Humanities and a passion for healthy eating. Her quest began after a high school field trip to one of the most important meat farms in Argentina (where, after visiting the slaughterhouse, the class was served a very homemade asado). This interest soared when she became pregnant with her first child, and knew that from then on she would be making important decisions not about her own health, habits and lifestyle, but also those of her children. She began to take workshops and read (and cook, cook, cook!) extensively about conscientious (but always delicious) healthy eating. In addition to her voracious appetite for books on the subject, she has studied natural energetic cooking and health-supportive whole foods cooking with Montse Bradford, Agnes Perez, Montse Vallory, and Ana Torrontegui. She somehow always manages to find the time to cook on a daily basis for her family.

for me, being on the path of yoga, means constantly trying to expand my awareness and consciousness and my interconnectedness with everything. as yoga practitioners (and human beings), it is vital to start making the connection between our food consumption and its effects on our well-being and energy levels, and also on our environment. i hope that you will take advantage of this unique opportunity and to see you in the workshop!

take care and see you soon! much love and peace... namaste, hojung
