spring cleansing yin yoga workshop: saturday, 26 march 2011

i am happy to announce that there will be a spring cleansing yin yoga workshop on saturday, 26 march, from 11am – 1:30pm, taught by kathy paez. practitioners of all levels welcome!

cost: 30 euros (25 euros for students of casaAbhyasa or for those who have done a workshop with us previously).

*In this workshop, we will explore the meridians of the liver and pancreas through both dynamic and static postures, the majority of which will focus on hip-opening
*We will remain in the postures passively for 3 – 7 minutes, working with deep, rhythmic breathing.
*You will come to understand yourself from a different perspective through a practice of Yin yoga, which could help you in how you approach and focus yourself in a Yang/ dynamic practice.
*At the end of the workshop, you will be given a handout of postures and recommendations in order to continue to let go during the spring season.

zen meditation intensive: sunday, 13 march 2011

i am pleased to announce that we will be offering a zen meditation intensive on SUNDAY, 13 MARCH, from 4pm – 8pm, with laia monserrat.

cost: 25 euros

WOULD YOU LIKE TO DEEPEN YOUR ZEN MEDITATION PRACTICE?
*4pm – 4:30pm: The Posture: we will see what is the best seated position for each person individually.
4:30pm – 5:30pm: Meditation (2 seated + walking meditation)
5:30pm – 6:30pm: Discussion session
6:30pm – 7:30pm: Meditation (2 seated + walking meditation)
7:30pm – 8pm: Question & answer
* This session is open to those who have completed at least an introduction meditation workshop.
* It is necessary to bring comfortable clothes (no sports clothes or jeans) preferably in subdued colors

* Laia Monserrat: clinical psychologist, master in Brief Strategic Therapy and educated in Leibtherapie Personale (psycho-physical psychotherapy, in the Dürckheim method) and disciple of K. G. DÜrckheim and J. Castermane. Authorized to teach zen in this tradition since 1989

yoga stops traffick: benefit class for odanadi - saturday, 12 march 2011

on saturday, the 12th of march from 10am –12pm, we will be holding a “108 sun-salutations” benefit class to help odanadi, an organization based in mysore, india that works with getting women and children out of the sex trade and to stop human trafficking. although the main event will be held in mysore, india, this is a world-wide event with many ashtanga shalas participating on the same day to raise money for this cause and to spread awareness of this issue.

we will be doing a class of 108 led sun salutations beginning at 10am. afterwards, at 12pm, we will have a short question and answer session, in which people may ask about the practice or anything relating to it.

i hope that you will take the opportunity to participate in this event! besides having an individual yoga practice, yoga is also about creating community and helping others. this will be a nice opportunity to bring everyone together and maintain our sense of community as practitioners.

march news 2011

i just want to let you know a few things for the month of march:

1. please note that this month only the new moon will affect the class schedule: there will be NO class on FRIDAY, 4 MARCH.

2. please remember that MONDAY, 7 MARCH is a public holiday. The normal schedule of classes will be canceled and there will ONLY be a LED CLASS at 10am. Please arrive 10 minutes early, so that we can start on time. if you can’t usually attend the led classes on friday evenings or sunday mornings, try to take the opportunity to come to the led classes offered on public holidays, as it will help refine your practice and vinyasas.

3. on SATURDAY, 12 MARCH, from 10am – 12pm, we will be holding a benefit class of 108 sun salutations to help odanadi, an organization based in mysore, india that works with getting women and children out of the sex trade and to stop human trafficking. this is the second annual world-wide event with many ashtanga shalas participating on the same day to raise money for this cause and to spread awareness of this issue. you will be receiving more information about this soon and i hope that you will be able to participate!

4. there will be a zen meditation intensive with laia monserrat on SUNDAY, 13 MARCH, from 4pm – 8pm. i will send you more information about this workshop soon. please let me know if you would like to attend as space is limited.

5. on SATURDAY, 26 MARCH, there will be spring cleansing yin yoga workshop from 11am – 1:30pm with kathy paez. you will receive more information about this workshop closer to the date.

6. recently, we have had some complaints from a neighbor in the building. please do not force the street-level door open to enter. ring the buzzer, and we will let you in. please respect that there are families living in the building who are concerned about the safety of their home and personal belongings and do not wish for the general public to see that this door can be forced open simply by pushing it. thank you!
