september news 2011

1 september, is our 2 year anniversary in this space… how quickly time goes! thank you to all of you for coming and practicing and sharing your energy these past 2 years!
here is the news for this month:

1. please remember that we are EXTENDING the shala schedule. there are now even more opportunities to practice!
* morning mysore classes will be from 7am – 1pm. (entry from 7am – 11:30am).
* evening mysore classes will be from MONDAY – THURSDAY from 5pm – 9pm (entry from 5pm – 7:30pm).
* the FRIDAY led class will be changing to a MYSORE class from 5pm – 8pm (entry from 5pm – 6:30pm).
* the SUNDAY led class will stay the SAME, starting at 10am.

2. please note that the moon days this month are: MONDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER and TUESDAY, 27 SEPTEMBER. there will be NO class on these days.

3. on SATURDAY, 17 SEPTEMBER, from 10:30am – 1pm there will be a yin yoga "metal" workshop, focusing in opening the chest, shoulders, and sides, with kathy paez. i will be sending out more information shortly.

4. there will be a introduction to ashtanga yoga workshop the WEEKEND of 24 & 25 SEPTEMBER from 12pm – 2pm. please spread the word and encourage interested friends or family to join!

5. perhaps you have already seen the posters in the shala, and it is with great pleasure to let you know that in OCTOBER we will be offering a course on octagonal methodology for 6 MONTHS (1 SATURDAY per MONTH) about the development of the soul using astrology. you will be receiving more information about this course soon, but it is essential to pre-register as we need personal information from each participant so that we can do individual astrology charts.

6. a shipment of the indian cotton yoga mats has just arrived (for those who prefer to practice with them on top of the sticky mat, as they absorb sweat and provide more traction). they are 20 euros each, and come in a wide array of colors.

7. it is still hot in class, so i am asking everyone to please continue drying the area around your mat with your towel when you have finished your practice so that the area is dry and clean for the following student coming into that space. thank you!

i hope that you all have been having a good summer and have been enjoying your vacations! september is an interesting month as most of us return to our regular work and school schedules. the practice can be a very beneficial tool in helping to discipline oneself to return to a more structured daily routine. it is also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with one’s health and well-being. i hope to see you all in class soon!

extended shala schedule beginning tuesday, 30 august 2011

please remember that on TUESDAY, 30 AUGUST, the regular class schedule will begin again and that we will be EXTENDING the shala schedule:

* morning mysore classes will be from 7am – 1pm. (entry from 7am – 11:30am).

* evening mysore classes will be from MONDAY – THURSDAY from 5pm – 9pm (entry from 5pm – 7:30pm).

* the FRIDAY led class will be changing to a MYSORE class from 5pm – 8pm (entry from 5pm – 6:30pm).

* the SUNDAY led class will stay the SAME, starting at 10am.
